Welcome to my blog, “Where Did Everyone Go?” You’re probably wondering what the title of my blog is supposed to mean. I chose this title because I didn’t want you to know right away what my blog was about. I wanted you to wonder what it’s about and take the time to search around my blog to find out for yourself. The title of my blog relates to nature, wildlife and the environment, and what kind of dangers it has been facing over the many years. Ever since I can remember, I have been an animal lover who’s interested in the environment and other species. Since I’m an endangered species myself, it’s kind of a given that I would be concerned about other endangered species and the threats that these species face. Now that so many species are extinct or endangered, these species are probably wondering, “What happened to everyone, where did everyone go?” So with my blog I wanted to write it from the perspective of an extinct species to try to give some insight into what these animals and other animals might be thinking. Basically I wanted to pick a few different animals to focus on so I can research them and find out why they are facing extinction or why they’re already extinct. Personally, I think these topics are interesting and it gives me a chance to learn about some animals that I’ve never heard of or seen before. If you have any interest in wildlife you should give this blog a chance and see if you learn anything new or interesting!
I started my blog with the first page called “Endangerment” where I chose a different species to write about in each blog posting. All of these species are endangered, some more than others. I didn’t want it to be too factual and boring so I made sure I included pictures and videos of each species. I chose a hunting video for each blog posting because I think it shows the power and beauty of each species and it shows how they survive. In each blog posting I gave some background information on the species like its history and characteristics. I also wanted to focus on what threats that species faces and how some of these threats can be prevented. These species are critical because they are on the way to extinction if we can’t help them.
My second page is called “Extinction” which is similar to my first page except all of the species I wrote about are already extinct. I chose species that have gone extinct in the past 50-100 years so I could find enough information about them as well as pictures and possibly videos. These were some of my favorite postings because I had never heard of these species before and I learned a lot by researching them. Although these species are already extinct, it’s important to study them and their history so we can prevent other species from going extinct. For these postings I focused more on what threats these species faced since those threats ultimately caused their extinction. If you read my posting on the “quagga” you’ll see that sometimes being extinct doesn’t really mean being extinct.
My last page, “Conservation and Prevention”, is the key to saving endangered species and preventing them from going extinct. There are so many groups and organizations that I could have written about so I just chose the most popular ones that people have probably heard of before, like the World Wildlife Fund. Since these are organizations, I did include some of their history and accomplishments in my postings. You might be thinking that these things sound boring but I was surprised and interested by some of the amazing things that these organizations have done over the years. It’s incredible how these organizations work in hundreds of countries all over the world to save the environment, atmosphere, wildlife, and more.
